Honolulu, HI – The Western Region Society of Nuclear Medicine (WRSNM) will honor Lori Blok, MBA, CNMT with the presentation of
their Distinguished Service Award. The Award will be presented at the 2025 WRSNM Annual Meeting, November 14-16, 202,5 at the Prince Waikiki Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The WRSNM Distinguished Service Award is given annually at the WRSNM Meeting to a physician, physicist or scientist, or a Nuclear Medicine technologist based on the individual’s exceptional service to a Western Regional Chapters, their local chapter or to the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).
Ms. Blok is the Nuclear Medicine Program Director at the Kaiser Permanente School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS), a position she has held, for a second time, since 2022. She previously held the position from 2015 to 2022 before moving to the role of Area Assistant Facilities Director of Nuclear Medicine Imaging at Kaiser Permanente.
Blok received her Bachelor of Arts in Physical Sciences from California State University – Long Beach and her Nuclear Medicine Technology Program Certificate from the Los Angeles VA Medical Center. She received her MBA with Honors from Saint Mary’s College of California in 2013.
Blok became involved with the local Northern California Chapter SNMMI in 2015, at first bringing her students to the Chapter Meeting in Pleasanton, CA and then having them present abstracts at the Western Regional meeting held in Monterey, CA. She subsequently brought her students to the 2016 SNMMI Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA where they again presented their research.
Blok took on the task of encouraging student involvement at the Chapter meeting alongside the Northern California Chapter Technologist Section President, which led to taking on the role as President-Elect of the NCSNMMI Technologist Section in 2017. Blok moved up to President of the NCSNMMI Technologist Section in 2019, a position she held until June 2025.
During her time as the President, Blok encouraged students from other programs to get involved at the local chapter meetings, reached out to industry partners and stressed the important of supporting the chapter meetings and worked to bring Kaiser physicians to the meetings to present their research. Before her role as President concluded, Blok created a Student Section at the local chapter meeting that allowed for students to connect with each other, with industry leaders, and other local medical professionals. She helped to create a Student Review Session that takes place during the NCSNMMI Annual Meeting and Blok looks forward to helping leadership continue to grow this vital program for our young professionals.
